This Limehawk Moth, more common in the South of England, has been spotted on a Village Green Lime Tree.

Lime Tree Pruning

Lime Trees are grown for their stature, foliage, and sweetly scented flowers. At maturity, many limes shed dead wood. They are very tolerant of pruning and training and are often pollarded. Limes produce large burrs, that give rise to a mass of upward growing epicormic shoots. These usually need removing as they can spoil the crown if allowed to develop.

Thank you to Steve Burroughs for removing these shoots on the Village Green Limes.

The Village Tidy Up was carried out on Sunday, which included a litter pick, the cleaning of signs and lamp posts, clearing debris around Christmas tree, and repairing the kids allotment gate. Thanks to Ellen, Lois, Lucia, William, Eddie, Jamie, Dave, Chris, Micheal, Steve, James, Mandie, Alan and Sharon for helping out – and Keith for disposing of the debris. Thank you to Helen and Rob for planting up the cart.

Christmas tree after tidy-up

Daffodil and crocus bulbs have been planted around the village + in the Batts. Thank you to Sharon Chapman, Mike Jackson, Alan Timothy and Steve Burroughs for their commitment and hard work in this project. DPPC welcome any help or suggestions for further improvements.
