DPPC Chair and Vice Chair Resign

At January DPPC meeting, Chair Alan Timothy and Vice Chair John Bearby resigned from Dalton Piercy Parish Council.

Between them, they have served on DPPC for over 25 years. On behalf of Dalton Piercy I would like to thank them for their dedication, hard work, and achievements of which have been voluntary and without prejudice. They have requested that their resignation letters be made public and be posted on the site.

Please see below:

To The Chairperson, Dalton Piercy Parish Council

Dear sir/madam,

Please accept this letter as confirmation of my resignation as both Chair and a councillor of DPPC following my verbal resignation at the meeting.

I am resigning based on the input from fellow councillors both in the meeting and the constant barrage of e mails question my personal integrity and motives and that the individuals clearly have an understanding significantly in advance of mine in legal matters relating to land issues and dealing with lawyers, I am stepping aside to allow them to take up the tasks at hand which after their input I am sure they will fully embrace.

It is my view that a number of councillors have deliberately set out to disrupt both the activities of the council and the lives of many who live within the parish and I have been very disappointed at the in ability of both the police and local government legislation to assist the parish in dealing with such individuals, though I would also add that HBC legal team have been supportive in dealing with a barrage of petty complaints.

It may be that my leadership and chairmanship of the parish is contributing to unpleasant behaviour of these individuals and by stepping down this will allow the remaining councillors to select a chairperson who can change the style and approach in dealing with this behaviour and I wish the new chairperson well in their endeavours to continue to make progress in improving the village for all and not a few vocal councillors and individuals with interests relating to either their properties or personal beliefs.

To this end I have attached on a confidential basis for councillors eyes only a copy of the findings by the deputy monitoring officer and independent advisor into a complaint made against me as Chair by a resident, I believe the council may find the findings of importance in understanding both the actual issues around that property but also around conduct in meetings.

I believe that the parish despite the challenging environment has made a lot of progress in improving the quality of the village for everyone and it has great opportunity to continue with projects such as the additional parking at North View in order to protect the village green, to the this end I will continue to support the parish through the VGA.

Yours faithfully

Alan Timothy

For the attention of: –

DPPC Chairperson

To The Chairperson, Dalton Piercy Parish Council

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please accept this letter as confirmation of my resignation as both Deputy Chair & as a Councillor of DPPC following my exit from the council meeting on January 15, of which I have been an active Councillor for 11+ years.

Following Chair Alan Timothy’s resignation at the meeting & the subsequent requirement for myself to act as the new Chairperson – this is a position I will not do.

I am resigning for the following reasons: –

Based on the workload that I have had clarity on carried out by the ex-Chairperson, the barrage of email correspondence & the then lack of support by certain members.

In addition my personal integrity has been also questioned both at meetings, via emails, face to face inside & outside of meetings.

It is my view that certain Councillors have deliberately set out to maliciously disrupt both the activities of DPPC & also the lives of many who live within the parish of Dalton Piercy.   I have been disappointed at the in ability of external bodies to assist the parish in dealing with said individuals.

I wish the new appointed Chairperson to continue to make progress by improving the village (project: North View, Dean Garth, Pond etc…)

I will continue to operate as the Kids Club Chairperson which I feel is the only positive documented activity ongoing in the village with even this brought into question.

To this end I have attached on a confidential basis for DPPC Councillors eyes only a copy of the findings by the Deputy Monitoring Officer & Independent Advisor into a complaint made against me as Deputy Chair by a current Councillor, I believe the council may find the findings of importance in dealing with any future dealings.

Regards

John Bearby
