The bus service may cut out Dalton Piercy from its route if people do not make use of it, they are currently getting very few passengers from Dalton, and cannot justify running the service much longer without numbers improving. If you value the bus service use it or lose it.

Limehawk Moth at Dalton
This Limehawk Moth, more common in the South of England, has been spotted on a Village Green Lime Tree.
Lime Tree Pruning
Lime Trees are grown for their stature, foliage, and sweetly scented flowers. At maturity, many limes shed dead wood. They are very tolerant of pruning and training and are often pollarded. Limes produce large burrs, that give rise to a mass of upward growing epicormic shoots. These usually need removing as they can spoil the crown if allowed to develop.
Thank you to Steve Burroughs for removing these shoots on the Village Green Limes.
Village Tidy Up
The Village Tidy Up was carried out on Sunday, which included a litter pick, the cleaning of signs and lamp posts, clearing debris around Christmas tree, and repairing the kids allotment gate. Thanks to Ellen, Lois, Lucia, William, Eddie, Jamie, Dave, Chris, Micheal, Steve, James, Mandie, Alan and Sharon for helping out – and Keith for disposing of the debris. Thank you to Helen and Rob for planting up the cart.

Village Improvements
Daffodil and crocus bulbs have been planted around the village + in the Batts. Thank you to Sharon Chapman, Mike Jackson, Alan Timothy and Steve Burroughs for their commitment and hard work in this project. DPPC welcome any help or suggestions for further improvements. If you are interested in volunteering for future projects please contact the Clerk of DPPC.
For more information please see February Events.
New Planters
At the January Village Consultation Meeting the group proposed the replacement of the old planters along the green. The planters have now been renewed with a center piece, spring bedding and bulbs. Thanks to Steve and Amanda Burroughs from Amenity Landscape Services for sourcing materials and supplying their labour free of charge, for DPPC paying for materials and Stranton Nursery for donating the bulbs. Going forward the proposal is to plant up twice a year. Spring bedding at the end of October and Summer bedding at the end of May. If you would like to maintain a planter (be responsible for watering, weeding and dead heading) please contact Michael, the Dalton Piercy Parish Clerk.
